Yep, and I like and use Snort too (actually Sourcefire's commercial
flavor as well). The project is in good hands, IMHO. Contrary to
acquisitions by some evil organizations, I don't foresee that
Sourcefire would do anything to futz with ClamAV's good points (Marty
knows firsthand and values the advantages of open source community
involvement and knows enough not to endanger that.)
What may come out of this that would be a very good thing is Clam
evolving at a proportional rate in terms of detection and sample
processing to other commercial AV. Sourcefire has an excellent
vulnerability research team and that along with budget could be very
beneficial to the project.
