Desktop/Audio presentation software

I think that the best way to broadcast our presentations is to find
some software that will capture the presenter's display, rather than
trying to videotape the speaker or overhead demonstration. The only
software I've found that does everything we need (including streaming
to QTSS) is Wirecast3. Unfortunately, this is non-free software (in
license and cost, $450... yikes!) and only runs on Windows and Mac.
While this is fine for those of us with Mac laptops (read: CapBUG),
it's a no-go for most of our other member BUGs.

I'm open to suggestions for free software that will cover this
feature list, but I'm not having much luck. It seems that VideoLAN
with LiveMedia will handle some of the RTSP streaming stuff, but
we're still short on other features. And never mind that VLC video
acquisition doesn't work with OpenBSD anyways. :(

I'm going to try and find sponsors for the Wirecast software for
CapBUG. I'd also like to open a discussion here on the MetaBUG list
for other users that want to solve this with FOSS.

Thanks,
